Green energy

  • Definition of green energy

Green energy is a source of energy that is derived from a natural source. Green energy can still pollute GHG but als long as it is a lot less than fossil fuels pollution. Therefor, green energy is better than fossil fuels and has to be clean and renewable

When a energy source is green but not clean does not exist. All green energy is: - Renewable - Does not have any pollution or incredible low - Does not have any negative impact on the environment

  • Green energy sources
    • Solar energy
    • Wind energy
    • Low impact Hydropower
  • Debatable 'green energy'sources bevause they still pollute (eventhough it is less than the pollution of fossil fuels or if used in a larger amount or when it is not managed correctly it has the possibilty of polluting the environment.
    • Geothermal energy: To generate this type of energy, it is required to drill to access the heat to generate geothermal energy. The drilling can have an impact on the environment, and therefor it is debated if geothermal energy is green energy.
    • High impact hydropower: When energy is generated from a high impact hydropower that, when generated in a large amount, has a negative impact on the ecosystem and environment.
    • Biomass: Can only be a green energy source when it is closely managed in order to call it green because it may not have a negative impact in the environment or cause to much pollution. Because it has far less (GHG) pollution than fossil fuels it is considered clean energy.
    • Biofuels: with biofuels the organic waste is turned into ethanol and biodiesel to use as a fuel. The same as with Biomass energy this type of energy has to be maneged closely to make sure it does not have any negative impact on the environment such as deforesstation. But because it releases les (GHG) pollution than fossil fuels
